Explanation: We're going to learn the neckstall in three steps.
Step 1: Get a feeling for the ball.
Step 2: Throw the ball on your neck with your hands.
Step 3: Throw the ball on your neck with your feet.
Now, here are a few notes. Wear light clothes that leaves your neck free, otherwise it will be more difficult to make the move work. Also note that the neckstall is a fairly easy move (the first I've learned). When you master the neckstall, you can then move on to other tricks or try to combine the neckstall with other moves in order to get a combo. Let's begin!
1: Lay the ball on your neck with your hands so you can get comfortable with it. Try to turn around a few times without letting the ball move. Now try to look to the left and right. If you can do these things easily move on.
2: This is the hardest part to execute and explain. Throw the ball in the air with your hands (not too high!) and try to catch it on your neck. You WILL probably mess up the first 25 times you try this. It's all about practice so keep on trying. To help you, here are a few guidelines: - Keep watching the ball coming down and move along with it with your whole body. The more horizontal your back is, the better.
  - Don't let the ball just fall down flat on your neck. Keep looking at it and at the last moment put your neck down so the ball is squeezed by your head and upper back.
  - You might also want to use your shoulders for extra grip by pushing them up as if you were squeezing the ball.
3: When you are able to do this with your hands, do it with your feet. First from foot stalls, than from juggles. This shouldn't be a problem since it's almost the same as step 2, except having to lob the ball onto your neck.
Of course these steps won't make you do the neckstall perfect the first time. It will only help you do it FASTER because you now know the principles behind the freestyle trick.
Practice is much more important than these steps so make sure you take the time to work on them. Like I said you will screw up in the beginning, but so does everyone else. Do not give up...
So what are you waiting for? Step up and practice!
